Nishantha Jayathunga

Nishantha Jayathunga is a Chartered Civil Engineer and certified Project Management Professional with 25 years of experience in construction planning, programme management and project controls. He works as a Senior Planner with PMO Specialist on UK and European projects, including London Underground contractors and data centres. His project experience spans the United Kingdom, Sri Lanka and the Middle East across rail, aviation, residential high-rise, hospitality, defence, government and commercial sectors.

He specialises in critical path method (CPM) scheduling using Primavera P6 and MS Project, from preparing contractor master programmes to reviewing and approving them on the Employer’s side. On the approximately £37 million TRI-ZEN high-rise development in Colombo, comprising three 52-storey towers and 897 apartments, he analysed 15 delay claims and assisted with the Engineer’s Determinations, monitored progress against baseline and reviewed recovery programmes.

His experience includes reviewing contractor programmes, progress reports, delay notices and Extension of Time claims on the Bandaranaike International Airport Development Project. On the approximately £260 million Defence Headquarters Complex in Sri Lanka, he developed resource- and cost-loaded Primavera P6 master programmes, introduced work package weightings and a WBS roll-up progress system, and supported claims and cause-and-effect analysis of variations.

Earlier roles include planning and monitoring major projects in Libya for Joannou & Paraskevaides, planning management, structural resident engineering and civil engineering. His major project experience also includes The Altair, ITC One Colombo One, Hilton Colombo Refurbishment and The Emperor at Crescat City. As a Primavera P6 Trainer, he has trained more than 75 engineers, 20 project managers and 30 quantity surveyors. He speaks English and Sinhala.
